As part of the 75th Platinum Jubilee Year celebrations, BAI Southern Centre has launched a green initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. Under this initiative, an initial target of planting 2,000 saplings was planned.

Accordingly, BAI Southern Centre, with the support of the Forest Department and under the guidance of Thiru Lakshmana Kumar, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Tamil Nadu, commenced its plantation programme on 15.09.2025 at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering & Technology, Tirupachur. The programme was implemented in a phased manner during which 1,800 saplings were planted within the college premises. To ensure proper growth and sustained maintenance, a drip irrigation system was installed to deliver water directly to the root zones of the saplings.

To assess the survival rate and maintenance of the planted saplings, Mr. N.G. Loganathan, Immediate Past Chairman and Image Building Committee Chairman, along with Mr. T.V. Chandrasekhar, Managing Committee Member, visited the site on 22.01.2026 to supervise the maintenance work. During the visit, it was reported that more than 90% of the saplings have survived and are being neatly maintained within the college premises.

The visit reaffirmed the success of the initiative and the commitment of BAI Southern Centre towards environmental conservation as part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
