A Seminar on Union Budget 2023 – Analysis of Indirect Tax Proposals was organized at Padma Bhushan Dr.A.Ramakrishna Auditorium, Builders' Association of India, Southern Centre, Ambattur on 15/02/2023 inviting Guest speakers Shri K.Vaitheeswaran who is an eminent speaker and renowned Advocate & Tax Consultant in Chennai.

The inaugural speech was delivered by Shri.R.R.Shridhar, Chairman, BAI-Southern Centre and Shri.L.Shanthakumar, Past Chairman has delivered an introduction note about the guest speaker. Other past and present office bearers were also present. The session was attended and well received by over one hundred attendees including EC/GC members.

The speaker has started off his speech by highlighting the India's story in terms of various growth and development aspects. He has delivered the otherwise complex subject such as indirect tax proposals in a lucid and understandable manner with the help of an engaging presentation.

During the course of presentation he had quoted examples from a practical standpoint and highlighted the issues encountered by the construction industry. Some important direct tax proposals were also covered.

The presentation was followed by a Q & A session which was presided over by the guest speaker and Shri.S.D.Kannan, Chairman – Taxation Committee. The audience had raised many pertinent questions about some practical issues faced, GST aspects in Joint Development Agreements, GST rates applicable. The panel has provided clarification to the queries along with practical aspects of managing the issues.

Bhishma Shri.R.Radhakrishnan, Past President & Past Trustee, BAI has delivered a special address and the vote of thanks was delivered by Shri.N.G.Lokanathan, Hon. Secretary, BAI-Southern Centre followed by National Anthem. Shri.A.N.Balaji, Chairman, Seminar Committee was instrumental in successfully organising the session. Overall it was a knowledge packed session organised for the benefit of the builders' fraternity.
