On 07 July 2026, a joint press meet was organized by CREDAI, Builders' Association of India and other affiliated industry associations at Taj Connemara, Chennai, to address the Pallikaranai Ramsar issue and the far-reaching implications of the proposed 1 km Influence-Zone planning freeze.
During the media briefing, the participating associations highlighted the serious concerns arising from the proposed planning restrictions. It was emphasized that the current planning freeze is adversely affecting patta landowners, prospective homebuyers, urban infrastructure development, investments and the future growth corridors of Chennai. The associations urged the Government to adopt a balanced and scientific approach that safeguards the ecologically sensitive Pallikaranai Marsh while also protecting the legitimate rights of landowners and ensuring the city's planned and sustainable development.
Mr. K. Gopinathan, Chairman, BAI Southern Centre, and Mr. S. Ramaprabhu, Chairman, CMDA & DTCP Committee, BAI Southern Centre, participated in the press meet on behalf of the Association.
